Why I’m Running…
Dear Neighbour,
My name is Pamela Rath, and I am honoured to be seeking the United Conservative Party nomination to represent Calgary-Beddington.
I’m a lifelong Calgarian, a wife, a mother, a community volunteer and a compassionate conservative. My husband, Trevor, and I were both born and raised in Calgary and have been married for more than 35 years. We are proud to have raised two sons who, along with their spouses, have chosen to make Northwest Calgary their home.
I believe public service should begin with listening. It should be about protecting what matters most to families, making thoughtful decisions with taxpayers’ dollars and leaving our community and our province stronger for the next generation.
Service has been a constant throughout my life. I have served through my church, our local schools and community organizations, including sports and Scouting. For more than 25 years, I have also volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, supporting individuals and families in our community who need a helping hand. These experiences have taught me that strong communities are built when we look after one another.
As a former Calgary Catholic School Board Trustee, I worked to protect classroom dollars, put students first and defend the important role parents play in their children’s education. I believe parents are the primary educators of their children, and protecting their ability to make choices about their children’s education is essential.
I also believe strongly in Alberta’s economic future. Our energy sector has built this province, and emerging industries such as data and technology offer tremendous opportunities for the next generation. Alberta should continue to be a place where businesses want to invest, where entrepreneurs can grow and where good jobs are created for families. Competitive taxes and responsible government can help make that possible.
I was around when Alberta’s Heritage Savings Trust Fund was created, and I believe we should have the ambition to build it into an even stronger foundation for our province’s future—one day helping Alberta become increasingly self-sustaining through the wealth we have created.
To me, conservative government is about more than balancing the books. It is about fiscal responsibility, strong families, compassionate communities and creating the conditions for people to thrive.
That is the approach I want to bring to the Alberta Legislature.
I am running because Calgary-Beddington deserves a representative who will work hard, listen carefully and stand up for our community. I want to focus on keeping life affordable, improving access to quality health care, supporting parents and students, protecting Alberta’s financial future and ensuring our seniors can live with dignity.
Most importantly, I want to hear from you.
Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to knocking on doors, meeting families and learning more about the issues that matter in our neighbourhoods. I would welcome the opportunity to connect over coffee, by phone or by email. Your experiences, concerns and ideas will help shape the way I serve.
If you share my belief in compassion, community and conservative leadership, I would be honoured to earn your support.
To vote in the upcoming UCP nomination, you must have a valid UCP membership. I encourage you to purchase or renew your membership and make sure your voice is heard in choosing who will represent Calgary-Beddington.
I look forward to meeting you and earning the opportunity to serve our community.
Sincerely,
Pamela Rath
